Thinking about Going In-House: How to Best Position Yourself for an In-House Counsel Job

Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00am ET
With Patricia Paul, Director, PeterSan Group

Many law firm practitioners are attracted to the idea of working for an in-house legal department. In-house counsel positions often offer the promise of better hours, greater control over workflow, and more involvement with company decisions. But how do you position yourself for those in-house opportunities? During this webinar, we will explore a variety of topics including:

  • How In-House Practice Differs from Law Firm Practice
  • Timing Your Move In-House
  • Networking
  • Working with Legal Recruiters
  • Questions to Ask When Looking at an In-House Role

Patricia Paul has been a Director at The PeterSan Group since 2007. Patricia helps attorneys successfully transition to the right in-house and law firm roles. She has placed attorneys into in-house roles with companies ranging from financial institutions and manufacturing companies to technology, life science, and new media companies.

Prior to becoming a legal search consultant, Patricia was a litigation associate at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP for more than five years. Before joining Kramer Levin, she practiced public interest law and employment law. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, and is a member of the Harvard Law School Alumni Association.
