The confirmation hearings for Attorney General Michael Mukasey raised numerous legal and constitutional issues relating to the interplay of national security, civil liberties, and the separation of powers. The positions of the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and of the then-nominated, now-confirmed, Attorney General present a rich variety of views of the Constitution, the balance of powers among the three Branches of government, and the pressures on both in a time of international conflict. A panel of experts in both Cambridge and Washington will analyze these positions and consider whether and what the views of the new Attorney General will add to the legal mix.

Department of Justice Information Session for 1Ls

No food will be served, but students can feel free to bring dinner.

This session is for any 1L who is interested in learning more about summer internships at the Department of Justice in DC or a US Attorney's office. Detailed information about the application process and the volunteer intern experience will be available, as well as a chance to ask questions.

Curious about working in federal government? Come hear a panel of Heyman Fellows (young HLS alums working in federal government) speak about their work and federal government careers. The Heyman Fellowship Program supports and mentors HLS students and recent graduates in federal public service.
