Additional Digital Scanners Now Available

To satisfy growing patron demand for digital scanning capabilities, two additional do-it-yourself scanning stations have been installed at the library.

The two new scanners available at the north end of the Langdell Reading Room (Level 4, outside the Caspersen Room.)

As of November 30, two more scanning stations have been installed at the library. These stations are located in the alcove between the Langdell Reading Room and the Caspersen Room, at the north end of level 4. These new stations supplement the original scanning station, still available, in the main copy room on Langdell level 3.

The units have been configured for easy, do-it-yourself use, and straightforward instructions are attached to each of their control kiosks. Best of all, this new service is absolutely free!

Important Note:
Please only use the touch-screen control kiosk to operate the scanners. Do not adjust any of the controls on the scanner unit itself, as this may leave the scanner disabled for the next user.

Scanned output can be retrieved either by email or via a, user-supplied, USB flash drive. (For speed and reliability, flash drive output is generally preferable.) Please refer to the instructions attached to the machine for further information about using the machine and output options.

As with all in-house computer equipment, problems with the scanner should be reported to the library's Tech RAs. The Tech RAs are located at the Langdell circulation desk and can also be reached at (617) 496-2573 or emailed at librtech@law.harvard.edu. Comments about the new scanning service can also be directed to the library's general email account.
